Gardaí have not ruled out finding more cash
Almost £100,000 was found in a house in Ballydaly, near the Cork/Kerry border, on Sunday and approximately £10,000 was recovered in the east Kerry area of Rathmore.
Locals living in Ballydaly a few kilometres from Rathmore and with a population of about 100 yesterday said they had no knowledge of the CAB operation in the area.
The man suspected of involvement denied he had anything to do with the find. "There was news today that there was some money found, but I don't know anything about it and I have no comment to make," he said.
Close to £440,000 was seized by the CAB at the weekend. It's also understood CAB detectives took statements after the seizure of the money in north Cork.
Gardaí in Anglesea Street, Cork, said the £100,000 was found in a house in the Ballydaly area near the Kerry border on Sunday, but refused to elaborate on exactly where it was located.
In the towns of Rathmore and in nearby Millstreet, located just 12 kilometres apart, many locals said the first they had heard of the CAB money seizure was when they heard about it on the news.
A Millstreet native said the news was a surprise. "When people heard it, they were surprised and started ringing everybody else asking who it is, but no one seems to know," he said.
Local man Tim Riordan said: "It's the first I've heard of it we don't know anything about it."
A woman said her daughter had phoned her enquiring, but she herself had not heard anything.
