A MAN was arrested yesterday in connection with a violent assault on a youth in Newbridge, Co Kildare, early yesterday.

The victim, aged 27, was described as being in a critical condition last night in Naas General Hospital.

He was thought to be out celebrating his birthday when he was attacked in the town’s Main Street shortly before 2am.
