AROUND half of the idle healthcare facilities included on a long list by former Health Minister Micheál Martin last September are now open.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) said yesterday that substantial progress had been made in equipping and staffing the facilities.

Almost €85 million was allocated to staffing and equipping 21 facilities, including a number of new A&E units across the State.
