Protesters tear up donor cards over Billy plight

THE plight of Kerry man Billy Burke, whose life hangs on a thread as he awaits a lung transplant operation, has prompted some people to tear up their donor cards.

The Irish Kidney Association (IKA) has expressed horror at the card shredding protest by people who feel that the 29-year-old Kerry man has been dropped at death's door by the health authorities.

This week, thousands of people took to the streets of Killorglin, Co Kerry, demanding life saving care for Billy Burke.
