Baby abductor woman remanded in custody after disturbance

THE woman who abducted a baby boy at a Cork hospital was back in court yesterday after she fled from her residential treatment programme and ended up coming to the attention of gardaí in Cork city where she was causing a disturbance on the street.

It is the second time Marie Crean ran out on her treatment regime in Cuain Mhuire, Athy, Co Kildare. Judge Sean O’Donnabhain remanded her in custody yesterday until February 16.

The 37-year-old Cork defendant, who admitted abducting the baby at the Erinville in October 2002, was given a chance to go on a residential programme to get off drink last summer but ended up being arrested on the street in Athy, Co Kildare.
