LEGISLATION which compels the parents or guardians of young offenders to pay compensation to victims of juvenile crime should be enforced, a Labour TD says.

Anti-social behaviour in our estates, villages, towns and cities could be significantly reduced, if those responsible for the care of young people were brought to book, Waterford TD, Brian O’Shea says.

The Tramore-based TD has raised incidents of anti-social behaviour by gangs of youths in his hometown in the media and the Dáil.
