Region’s job losses drop off

Job numbers in Shannon Development-assisted industries grew marginally to 19,739 an increase of 29.

These industries generated sales of E4.4 billion, of which E3.1 billion were for export. Shannon Development has responsibility for job promotion in the Shannon Free Zone, where job numbers stand at 7,472, and for indigenous Irish-owned companies in Limerick city and county; Clare; north Tipperary; south-west Offaly and north Kerry, which saw a slight dip of 135 jobs last year to 12,267.
