CHANGES have been made to the internal layout plans for Cork School of Music because the building costs rose by €8 million since it was announced three years ago.

The Government was anxious that, although labour and other costs have been affected by inflation, it would still only be paying for a €60 million building.

“I know that difficult and tough negotiations had to take place to agree on changes and compromises to make the building more economic, while still enabling it to function as a centre for excellence,” said Education Minister Noel Dempsey.
