Gardaí to tackle false alarm calls

FALSELY activated house and business alarms are behind over 20% of garda response calls, according to the head of the force.

Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy said such calls were wasting precious garda time which could be better spent responding to genuine calls.

In an effort to clampdown on time wasting, Mr Conroy said the force intended to engage in talks with private security and alarm companies to tackle the problem.
