Dempsey delays announcing plans for school buildings

The funding was made available in addition to the record 357 million announced in the Government’s spending estimates in November. At the announcement of the 2004 school building programme before Christmas, Mr Dempsey said he would outline the plans for the extra funding in January.

However, no such announcement has been made. A spokesperson for the minister did not give a reason for the delay, but said that an announcement should be made very soon.
