GARDAÍ and Dublin Bus officials investigating the bus tragedy which claimed five lives described as speculation claims that detectives had established the cause of the incident.

It was reported yesterday that gardaí believe the driver got his foot caught on the accelerator pedal of the double-decker bus.

The report, in the Irish Daily Star, said that investigators believed the accident involved two drivers of the “out of hours” service bus that struck passengers queuing on the footpath of Wellington Quay on February 21.
