State of paths causes trouble for traffic, pedestrians

MANY towns and villages are either clamouring for replacement footpaths or for footpaths where none exist.

It’s a related problem, but of a very different variety, in Killeagh, where the width of the footpaths is causing a serious traffic hazard and even threatening the safety of pedestrians.

The footpath on the eastern side of the main street is as wide as half the main thoroughfare, while the one on the other side of the road is only marginally narrower. The result is a main carriageway that isn’t nearly wide enough to take the increasing daily traffic flows that have become the normal every day part of life for the local community.
