PARENTS are delaying sending children to school because classrooms are too overcrowded, teachers said yesterday.

Department of Education figures reveal that the age of junior infant classes has risen steadily over the past decade.

Less than 44% of children who started primary school last year were aged four or less, compared to almost 48% in 1997.
