SIPTU to vote on new partnership talks

TALKS on a new national partnership deal will finally begin on Thursday, provided SIPTU delegates vote to enter negotiations tomorrow.

Although SIPTU president Jack O’Connor has warned that a vote to enter talks is by no means a given, it is all but a certainty that members of the country’s most powerful union will agree to enter negotiations when they vote on the issue.

That decision will leave just the formality of an Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) say so before official negotiations begin in an already scheduled plenary session in Dublin Castle on Thursday.
