Husky hounds shop robber
One bark from the formidable husky dog, ‘Sally’, and the terrified would-be robber turned on his heels.
The robbery was underway at a video shop in Kilfinane, Co Limerick, when the owner’s pet intervened.
“It was around 7.20pm and I had my head down and was marking off the videos, what was out still and what had come back, when I heard the door opening and closing,” said Theresa O’Gorman. “I looked up and there was this fella with a grey and white hoodie over his head and a surgical mask on his face. He had a big machete knife, like something a butcher would have. He came towards me with the knife out and said ‘I want money’.”
However the robber failed to take into account the video centre’s security back up: Sally, the seven-year-old husky.
“I called ‘come on Sally, get rid of him’. She came flying out from the back, barking away, ran towards him and chased him out the front door.
“He ran away. The bloody cheek of him,” said Theresa.
Sally is described as a great companion by Joe and Theresa O’Gorman who run the Video Centre.
They rewarded Sally with a very special treat - an extra can of Pedigree Chum.
