Viking group seeks funds for dig

A VOLUNTARY group is to press for a full research excavation of one of the country’s richest Viking sites.

The Save Viking Waterford Action Group also wants the dig publicly funded with national and international expertise used. The group also intends to hold a seminar on the best way to progress work at the site.

“The group will also pressure the Minister for the Environment to immediately convene the expert committee on Woodstown which is delayed due to the failure of the government to appoint its’ representative,” a spokesperson said.
