THE Government was yesterday besieged by a prolonged chorus of angry criticism in the Dáil in the wake of the Irish Examiner publication of a letter written by a Cork consultant.

Unusually, all three opposition leaders brought up the letter written to the Tánaiste by consultant medical oncologist Dr Seamus O’Reilly during Leader’s question time.

In angry exchanges that lasted for over 90 minutes, the Government was accused of abject failure in providing adequate cancer services in Cork and Kerry.
