Report doubts Ireland’s hi-tech future

IRELAND’S future as a hi-tech centre was cast into doubt by a damning EU report to be published today.

It sounds alarm bells about the reduction in research and development and the failure of indigenous industry to invest sufficiently in its future.

Ireland, once the tiger of the EU’s economies, was rated average in the latest innovation scoreboard. It was ranked 11th out of the 25 EU member states.
