THE British Government was widely condemned last night over its “contempt” for the Barron Inquiry after it emerged it agreed to furnish only a ten-page summary out of the millions of relevant documents it held.

Judge Henry Barron's 380-page report on the four-year investigations the 1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings was highly critical of the current British government for its lack of co-operation and of the Fine Gael-Labour coalition at the time for its inertia and lack of interest in the bombings.

The garda investigation, which was mothballed after only 12 weeks, was also severely criticised for manifold failures and fatal delays.
