Two women arrested in Lithuanian man’s death probe
The arrests bring to four the number of arrests made by gardaí.
Two men were last night still being questioned following the discovery of the body on Sunday.
The women were picked up yesterday while the two men, both of whom are also Lithuanian, were arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, whose badly beaten body was discovered dumped in a ditch near Dunboyne in Co Meath, has been positively identified.
But the name has not been released as investigators are making further checks with police in Lithuania, who in turn have been asked to contact relatives.
The victim, who is in his early 30s, is thought to have been in Ireland for less than two weeks.
Two of the suspects are being held in Blanchardstown, the others in Ashbourne, Co. Meath, where an incident room has been set up. The gardaí are not yet describing the death as a murder.
There are unconfirmed reports the man died following a fight at a house in west Dublin. The fight is said to have occurred during a party at the house in Clonsilla on Friday night.
It is thought the victim, who had severe injuries to his face and one of his arms, may have received a fatal kicking from his attackers.
Detectives believe he was still alive for much of Saturday and that someone attempted first aid.
He is thought to have died late on Saturday night, early Sunday morning. His body was found later that evening by a woman who was out walking.
The motive for the attack is still unclear and little is known about the dead man’s background.
