Drugs squad officers stopped a car which was being driven into an apartment complex off the city’s North Ring Road near Murphy’s Brewery on Saturday night and discovered one kilo of cocaine hidden inside. The driver, in his 30s and from the city’s northside, is known to gardaí.

He was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and taken to Mayfield Garda Station for questioning.

The man was later released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Dublin seized about €5,000 worth of cocaine in a search of a nightclub in the Finglas area on Friday night.

Four men were arrested at the scene. One man was charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at a sitting of the District Court on December 16. The other three men were released without charge.
