Book a snapshot of UCC diversity
Peijuan Chen, Siyu Ge, Xiaoye Dai and Dan Gu - pictured underneath University College Cork’s famous arch - work on the Mandarin section of the college’s website.
Their photograph is one of over 70 images in University College Cork: A Portrait in Words and Images, which was launched last night by Lord Mayor Deirdre Clune.
The coffee-table style publication features the work of photographer Andrew Bradley.
Text by John A Murphy, Emeritus Professor of History at UCC, accompanies his images.
“This new collection of photographs makes a familiar and beloved campus appear new and exciting,” Prof Murphy said.
The book features shots of the striking main quadrangle, the Honan Chapel and many of the college’s other original buildings.
These images sit alongside shots of some of the newer college buildings, including the 1995-built Áras na Mac Léin and the award-winning 2004-built Glucksman Gallery.
The book also highlights the diversity and changes in UCC’s student population. Over 2,000 international students, representing 75 countries and five continents, are studying at UCC.
Long-serving college staff like gardener Noel O’Mahony and security guard Dudley O’Driscoll also feature.
