Further delays hit repayment of illegal nursing home fees

OPPOSITION parties rounded on the Government and the Health Service Executive (HSE) last night for further delays in refunding illegal nursing home charges.

Yesterday it emerged the HSE had scrapped its initial competition for a company to manage the repayment scheme because applicants were seeking fees of up to €50 million.

It opted for a new tender process rather than pay exorbitant fees to consultants. The successful candidate is unlikely to be in place before the end of April.
