LOVE-STRUCK American GIs were warned to stay away from sex-hungry women in Northern Ireland during World War II, according to new research out last night.

Authorities in Washington even urged troops to keep out of certain pubs in Belfast and Derry over fears of contracting diseases.

Details of tight vetting and bar-room bans emerged in a University of Ulster study.
