Peugeot 3008 SUV tops crowded field to win Irish Car of the Year title

The award, presented in association with Continental Tyres, went to the Peugeot SUV ahead of a field of some 60 new models which were introduced in this country during the year.

Peugeot took the top award with its 3008 model which was also named as Irish Compact Crossover of the Year category winner.

Other category winners included the Kia Picanto - City Car of the Year; the Nissan Micra - Small Car of the Year ; Honda Civic - Compact Car of the Year; Alfa Romeo Giulia - Medium Car of the Year; BMW 5 Series - Executive/Premium Car of the Year; Peugeot 3008 - Compact Crossover of the Year; Skoda Kodiaq - Large Crossover of the Year; Toyota Prius PHEV - Green/Efficient Car of the Year; and, Alfa Romeo Giulia QF Performance/Sports Car of the Year.

In the meantime, the new Peugeot 5008 seven-seater SUV, will take pride of place in Peugeot dealerships during the Peugeot SUV Drivetime event up to December 22.

Big sister to the multi-award winning Peugeot 3008, the new 5008 is a departure from its former traditional MPV body shape.

Featuring three rows of seats, as before, it now houses the new Peugeot iCockpit and digital instrumentation across the range, morphing into a more sophisticated, stylish vehicle that combines efficiency with high-levels of safety and technological equipment. The range starts from €29,345 plus delivery related charges for the Access 1.2 130bhp PureTech petrol version.

Sales and Marketing Director at Gowan Distributors, Peugeot Importers in Ireland, Colin Sheridan said: “The Peugeot 2008 SUV and the new 3008 SUV have both been huge sales successes in Europe and indeed in Ireland, outperforming the Irish market in 2017.
