It has taken a team of about 30 people 1,500 hours to fully restore the model, using close to 1,000 original spare parts to complete the rebuild. First launched in 1957, the 600 was an instant hit for the Spanish brand as it offered a low-cost, simplistic driving experience.

The 600 was bought by a private owner and stored for 25 years. As a result, the convertible required extensive work to both its electronics and mechanicals.

According to Angel Lahoz, an engineer at the Seat Technical Centre who was responsible for the project: “The final result is almost better than when it originally left the factory.”

The car’s exterior was treated to 15 litres of grey paint, while 50 metres of houndstooth fabric was needed to retrim the exterior. The manually operated roof was restored by hand, while the steering wheel and horn button are all completely original.

The 600 was an immensely popular car for the Spanish brand, with nearly 800,000 units sold by the time the model finished production in 1973.
