Cold response for new Škoda ‘Yeti’ Karoq
Given that the Yeti model has been such a huge success and continues to have a massive following, the decision by the Czech brand to name the Yeti replacement the Karoq is somewhat mystifying.
In any event Škoda says the name and its spelling of the new Karoq originate from the language of the Alutiiq, an indigenous tribe who live on an island off the southern coast of Alaska. For the name of the new compact SUV, Škoda says it has drawn on the spelling of the Kodiaq and, in doing so, has implemented a consistent theme for naming the brand’s current and future SUV models.
The Karoq will be introduced to the public for the first time in Stockholm on May 18 and represents a further milestone in the company’s SUV campaign.
