Pat O’Donovan shows us around his 1914 Model T Ford

What are you currently driving?

I’m currently driving a 1914 Ford Model T touring car.

Love at first sight, or just a means to get from A to B?

I always wanted one and fell in love with it when I saw it for the first time in the Ferry in Ringaskiddy in 2001. I bought it over the phone in rough but running condition.

When do you get behind the wheel?

I take it out when I get a chance and also to a few vintage rallies and road runs such as the Gordon Bennett. I also take it to the Great Dorset Steam Fair.

Petrol head or Sunday driver?

Petrol head.

What was your first car?

My first car was a Ford Fiesta.

What else do/did you own?

I also owned a 1929 Ford Model A touring car.

Dream drive in dream location?

Dream Drive with the Model T, from where I live to Bantry, if Glengarriff and on through Kenmare to Killarney via the tunnels and home through Macroom.

Passenger you’d most like on a long journey?

Close friends and family, old-car enthusiasts.

Passenger you’d least like?

Anyone that prattles on too much.

What’s on your playlist?

Audio equipment not fitted. Glen Campbell if it was.
