Nippy number gets a makeover
Some 2,300,000 Twingos have been sold globally since the model originally launched in 1993 and Renault is obviously hopeful of adding considerably to that total with the all-new version which, the company says, is radically different from what went before and introduces a number of firsts for the model — including a rear-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive and five doors.
Renault says the new Twingo echoes the much-loved original Twingo of 1993 and the Renault 5 before that, but that with its new layout and more practical body style it is very much a car for 21st-century cities — compact, nimble, efficient, safe and fully connected to the outside world.
