Peugeot RCZ R roars into Ireland

THE much-anticipated Peugeot RCZ R which, with 270 bhp on offer, is the most powerful road-going car the Peugeot brand has ever sold, has been unleashed in Ireland.

Peugeot RCZ R roars into Ireland

Peugeot says that in over 120 years of manufacturing cars the RCZ R is nothing like anything it has ever made before.

Exceptional performance and agility are key elements, according to the company, and are the result of countless hours of bespoke development and attention to detail, followed by validation on and off the track.

Priced from €52,990 plus delivery-related charges, the RCZ R 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol model is now available to order.

Peugeot says that for anyone willing to stump up the cash, a thrilling ride is guaranteed.

The two-seat RCZ R represents a considerable boost in power in comparison to its sibling RCZ 200 bhp model and it also sets a new record in its category with the most brake horsepower from a 1.6 litre engine in any production car.

To deliver what it says is an unparalleled driving experience, engineers at Peugeot Sport in Paris have reworked almost every component behind the car’s stand-out looks.

Inspired by the Peugeot RCZ Racing Cup track car and riding 10 mm lower to the ground than the RCZ, the result is a sports coupé which will sprint from 0-100 kph in just 5.9 seconds. Maximum power is at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 330 Nm is between 1,900rpm to 5,500rpm. Even so, it still meets the stringent Euro 6 emissions standard, emitting just 145g/km CO2.

Improved aerodynamics, special suspension settings, wider wheels rims, increased spring stiffness work together to optimise grip and guarantee remarkable road-holding. We are also told that the Torsen differential makes full use of the high torque available from 1900 rpm to offer excellent stability on braking and the ability to hold a tight trajectory inside bends.

Standard specification includes 19” R alloy wheels, a fixed rear spoiler, dual sports exhausts, sports front seats, leather/alcantara upholstery, ultrasonic alarm and immobiliser, cruise control and speed limiter, automatic dual zone air conditioning, xenon directional headlamps with washers, front and rear parking aid, retractable satellite navigation screen, automatic headlamps and wipers, soft touch leather sports steering wheel and gear lever.

The car also boast matt black roof arches, Bluetooth, electronic stability programme, ABS, emergency brake force distribution, dynamic stability control, electrically operated and folding door mirrors.

It will be available in Moroccan Red, Nera Black, Mercury Grey and Opal White.
