Thousands of people attempting to donate to the global “No make-up selfie” cancer campaign have inadvertently either given their money to a children’s charity — or tried to adopt a polar bear.

More than €200,000 has been raised for the Irish Cancer Society in just over 24 hours thanks to the viral success of the social media trend “no make-up selfie”.
