A shortlist of nominees in 23 strongly contested television categories for the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards has been unveiled.

In just two seasons, Red Rock has proved a ratings winner for TV3, securing deals with the BBC and Amazon Prime to bring it to international audiences. Esther McCarthy joins the team on set.

THE jungle drums continue to beat about TV3’s Garda soap opera Red Rock. 

The Irish Film and Academy (IFTA) held its annual award ceremony last night with a star-studded red carpet line-up.

It’s no surprise that Red Rock is returning for a second season, says Jonathan de Burca Butler – more a drama than a soap, there’s gritty reality, strong script-writing and fine acting talent from the likes of Jane McGrath.

The soap, which has slowly gathered an array of loyal fans, centres on two feuding families in the fictional Dublin suburb of Red Rock - the Kielys and the Hennesseys.
