Sudan activists have called for the international community to intervene in Sudan after a US group released satellite photos of what appear to be mass graves.

The United Nations Security Council has supported International Criminal Court’s demand to arrest a Sudanese governor and a militia leader accused of atrocities in Darfur.

A SENIOR officer with the African Union peacekeeping force in Darfur in western Sudan was attacked yesterday by gunmen who seriously wounded his driver, the force said in a statement.

Darfurian rebels have partially destroyed an oil field in a rare eastward extension of their campaign toward central Sudan, the rebels and government said.
