A garda who was shot in New Orleans last year after withdrawing $200 dollars from an ATM, has been awarded more than €36,000 in compensation for injuries he suffered while chasing down criminals almost six years ago.

A WOMAN who was arrested in connection with the abduction of a temporary post office worker in Newcastle West, Limerick, which led to the extortion of €105,000, was released from custody.
