Five Iraqis have been killed and 14 others injured in bombings and shootings in the capital, Baghdad, and a western town today, including an attack near cafes and ice cream shops, officials said today.

Three workers were killed and a dozen wounded in east Baghdad early today in a drive-by shooting by unidentified gunmen, police said.

Gunmen killed an aide to Iraq’s most influential Shiite cleric and two bodyguards in a drive-by shooting outside a Baghdad mosque today – an attack likely to stoke tensions between the Shiite majority and the Sunni minority, officials said.
