Fr Peter Quinn, a hero of Mayo’s All-Ireland SFC victories in 1950 and 1951, has died.

At least 13 people were killed today when a strong earthquake hit the central Philippines, destroying buildings and triggering landslides which buried dozens of houses, trapping their occupants.

Sudden floods have killed two people and have driven at least 12,000 others from their homes in the Philippines.
