An investigation is under way after fire broke out at a recycling plant in Cork — the second fire at the waste management facility in four years.

A man is being psychiatrically assessed in hospital after an incident in Fermoy, Co Cork, yesterday in which a Garda was stabbed in the hand.

A garda has been stabbed in the hand during a stand-off with a man at Cork Marts near Fermoy last night.
