A remote community on a rugged Irish headland have come together to commemorate an almost forgotten naval disaster on their shores more than two centuries ago.

Between three and four thousand people are still without power this afternoon after stormy conditions disrupted power lines.

Three people have been killed on the roads overnight in separate accidents in Limerick and Donegal.
