Because of the rise to prominence of Paul Murphy, the anti-water-charges TD, I visited the Socialist Party’s website. 

The recent death of a two-year-old girl in a road traffic accident in Waterford was heart-rending. I cannot begin to imagine the grief of her family.

I read with interest Victoria White’s article (Opinion, Aug 15) on our national obsession with cars as a means of transport. In an ideal world it would be lovely if cycling and public transport catered for all our travel needs.
