THE medal awarded to Cork-born Private Michael Minihan — one of the defenders of Rorke’s Drift mission station during the Zulu War in 1879 — comes up at auction in London on December 8.

In relation to the recent front page of your Sports supplement depicting GAA footballers raising a “flag” at Iwo Jima, as an American married to an Irish-American USMC reservist, I was highly insulted by the desecration of America’s most revered memorial to her thousands of youth, (5,000 butchered to plant that flag on Iwo Jima).
