A 65-YEAR-OLD man jailed for raping and sexually assaulting his niece for more than a decade has had his 12-year sentence reduced by two years by the Court of Criminal Appeal.

A Cavan bachelor who developed "a distorted conception" of his then five to 15-years-old niece as his "life's partner" has been jailed for 12 years by Mr Justice Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court.
