Archaeologists have made a number of discoveries in a Co Cork town — including the remains of a town wall, a cobbled street, and underground chamber all dating back to medieval times.

The sights, smells, and sounds of medieval Ireland will be recreated on the grounds of a north Cork castle this weekend as part of the second annual Buttevant Walled Towns Day.

THE purists mightn’t approve, but the world’s oldest steeplechase is about to be recreated – this time with horsepower instead of horses.
