Plans for a 34-storey Cork city centre hotel, which would become Ireland’s tallest tower and twice the height of the 17-storey Elysian building, are finally revealed today by New York-based Irish developers.

One of Cork’s most iconic buildings may soon have a new owner, following the announcement that the Port of Cork is putting its headquarters on Custom House Quay up for sale.

A campaign has been launched to keep one of Cork City’s most historic buildings — which is earmarked for sale — in public ownership to promote the city’s maritime heritage.
