A NEW era in rural tourism began at Sheep’s Head in west Cork over the weekend when the first of four publicly funded walkways was officially opened.

A NEW publicly funded walks scheme is to be initially launched in four pilot areas after years of controversy over access by walkers to land for recreational purposes.

DURING the current August bank holiday, it’s safe to say that more people are out walking than on any other weekend in the year.
