A teenage victim of the Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco was killed when she was struck by a vehicle at the scene, a coroner said today.

A young girl who was on board a US plane that crash landed died yesterday, as it was confirmed that one of the two Chinese teenagers killed in the disaster was hit by a fire engine.

Air crash investigators have determined Asiana Airlines Flight 214 was travelling “significantly below” the target speed during its approach and that the crew tried to abort the landing just before it smashed onto the runway.

Pilots of the doomed Asiana Flight 214 were flying too slowly as they approached San Francisco airport, experts said, and investigators believe rescue crews could have run over one of the two teenagers killed in the crash.

Police officers threw knives up to crew members inside the burning wreckage of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 so they could cut away passengers’ seat belts.
