Sudan’s state news agency says a plane carrying government officials has crashed in the country’s south, killing the minister of endowment and several other people on board.

The Sudanese government significantly raised the stakes in Khartoum’s stand-off with the international community, calling yesterday for the AU to withdraw its troops from all of Darfur.
