Ireland’s Lisa Kearney was in upbeat mood this afternoon despite her agonising loss in her last 16 Olympics clash at the Excel Arena.

John Joe Nevin is through to the last 16 in the bantamweight division at the Olympic Games in London. The fifth seed wasn't troubled in his first round fight, beating Denmark’s Dennis Ceylan 21-6.

Lisa Kearney has been given a bye from the opening elimination round of 32 meaning the Belfast girl is just two fights away from a semi-final berth and a medal at London next week.
