Bandon came close to causing a major shock in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League against defending champions Clonmel. The second division champions were leading 7-6 at half time with a try from Chris Laidler which Richard Walsh converted.

Fiji won the first Adelaide Sevens beating Samoa 21-7 in the final to stretch their lead to 10 points over their closest rivals in the race to the IRB Sevens World Series crown.
