Out of a double tragedy that claimed the lives of a mother and her newborn baby comes the prospect of saving many little lives.

The HSE and a consultant obstetrician have expressed sincere regret to the family of Garda Sergeant Tanya McCabe, who died following an emergency caesarean section.
