Four fishermen were plucked from the water at Tramore Bay by search and rescue services yesterday after their fishing vessel capsized, near the spot where three brothers died while fishing in June.

The small community of Passage East in Waterford will come together this afternoon for the funeral mass of three brothers who died in a fishing accident.

The families of the three brothers who died at sea off the Co Waterford coast were yesterday preparing to lay them to rest, as local fishermen said fish-catch regulations had meant the Bolgers had been forced out to sea with lobster pots instead of fishing salmon on the Suir estuary.

Fishing communities may be more familiar than the rest of us with fatal tragedies at sea but that does not mean they are any less heartbreaking.

After a weekend of joyous sunshine in the South-East, the turn in the weather has brought a gloomy dose of reality, with a sweeping, windy squall drowning out the delights of Tramore beach.
